Held as Prisoner - Shown above is one of the three sons of Mr. and Mrs. James Sponagle, formerly of New Harbor, now of Goldboro. This one is Malcolm S. Sponagle, Canadian Merchant Navy, who has been a prisoner of war in Germany for four years. Other sons include: PO Stoker, Calvin A. Sponagle, RCNVR, now at Halifax on a corvette, who enlisted in 1941 and trained in Halifax after spending 2 1/2 years in Newfoundland; Coder Morley F. Sponagle, RCNVR, now stationed at Albro Lake Station, Dartmouth. He enlisted in 1942 and was in training at Deep Brook and Montreal.


Gains Liberty - After being a prisoner of war for four years, and now safe in the United Kingdom is Malcolm S. Sponagle, Canadian Merchant Navy, and he hopes to be on his way home soon, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Sponagle, Goldboro, formerly of New Harbor.
